When it comes to medical thrillers, Michael Palmer is one of the best authors, and he doesn't disappoint with Critical Judgment. Dr. Abby Dolan and her fiance, Josh Wyler, move to the small town of Patience, California, where she assumes a position in the hospital emergency room while he works at Colstar, a manufacturing company and the lifeblood of Patience.Everything is fine until Abby starts seeing several cases with similar symptoms but impossible to diagnose. Aided by Dr. LewAlvarez, Abby comes to believe her patients' symptoms are somehow being caused by Colstar, and the situation worsens as Josh suffers from horrendous headaches and begins exhibiting violent behavior. The more Abby pursues her allegations against Colstar, the hairier things get for her, and soon her life is endangered.
